Vacancy Position: Driver @ ERuDeF

The President/CEO of the Environment and Rural Development Foundation (ERuDeF) is seeking the services of a Driver.

Candidates for this positions must have at least a class B driving licence, at least five years of driving experience, be able to write and speak English; have at least a First School Leaving Certificate or its equivalent, be able to drive on rough roads and in remote areas, be able to work under intense pressure and be multi-tasked and to work for 45 hours a week. In a bid to expand her programme in the Adamawa Region the Environment and Rural Development Foundation (ERuDeF) in collaboration with Trees for the Future-USA is seeking the services An Agroforestry Specialist and Forestry Technician. Ideal candidates for the Agroforestry Specialist position must hold at least a first degree in Agroforestry, Agronomy or Botany while those for the position of Forestry Technician, must have at least a Diploma in Agriculture or Agroforestry.

Candidates for both positions must;

  •  having a mastery of Fulfulde and the French language is a must and the mastery of the English language will be an extra advantage and
  •  be computer literate,
  •  Have a two to five years of experience in Agroforestry extension,

The ERuDeF Junior Professional Program:

Working with ERuDeF

The ERuDeF Junior Professional Program offers young Cameroon graduates interested in pursuing a career in conservation development an exceptional opportunity to acquire hands-on experience and training in conservation and a long term competitive NGO career path that leads into international sustainable development careers. The EIPP complements the ERuDeF Professional Certification Program designed for the older staff of the organisation.

Just as the programme provides young graduates with a unique professional and personal experience. It also brings fresh energy and ideas to the organisation. The programme helps ERuDeF identify individuals who could become staff members and make important contributions to ERuDeF’s future and its work on behalf of the environment and sustainable development. About 70 percent of junior professional officers continue in ERuDeF as regular staff at the end of their training and experience building. ERuDeF is launching the first cohort of recruitment by October 2015. Current trainees at the ERuDeF Institute of Biodiversity and Non-profit Studies wishing to enrol into this programme will strongly be encouraged provided they fulfil all the entry conditions.

Structure and Duration

This is 2-years training and experience building program for those having first degrees and 12- month program for those having a master degree and with at least one year of relevant NGO and professional experience. While master degree holders with no relevant NGO and professional experience will undergo an 18-month training and experience building program. The training will be delivered in full time mode at the ERuDeF Institute of Biodiversity and Non-profit studies

Target Participants

The recruitment into ERuDeF Junior Professional Program will be based on very specific needs of the organisation as planned out in its 10-years strategic plan running from 2016-2025. In search of a young, intelligent and dynamic team, ERuDeF will continuously be looking for those young Cameroonians with the passion for the environment and NGO career. The three different categories of Cameroonians ERuDeF will be targeting will include:

i. Graduates with first degrees in relevant fields

ERuDeF will be recruiting graduates with first degrees in Biology (Zoology & Botany), Forest, Sociology, Economics, Gender & Women, Agronomy, Finance, Fundraising, NGO studies, Law, Political Science, Geography and Environmental Sciences.

ii. Graduates with master degrees

ERuDeF will be recruiting graduates with master degrees in Botany (Zoology & Botany), Forest, Sociology, Economics, Gender &Women, Agronomy, Finance, Law, Political Science, Geography, fundraising, NGO Studies and Environmental Sciences.

Iii. Postgraduate Research Students

Any postgraduate research student wishing to take up a prospective position in ERuDeF will be accepted into the program provided he/she will fulfil the entry conditions into the ERuDeF Junior Professional Program. This category of candidates will spend 18 months on the program.

The ERuDef Junior Professional Program will start in October 2015 at the ERuDef Institute, of Biodiversity and Non-profit Studies

ERuDeF Junior Professional Programs Launched @ ERuDeF Institute of Biodiversity for 2016/2017 Academic Year

The Chief Executive of ERuDeF is seeking to recruit up to 10 prospective candidates into ERuDeF from 2018. These Junior Professionals will be trained for up to twenty four months respectively at its ERuDeF Institute of Biodiversity and in ERuDeF field programs. This professional training initiative is aimed at helping ERuDeF to build its human resources team in order to consolidate and expand its national conservation programmes in Cameroon.

The personnel recruitment process through Junior Professionals (those without experience) into ERuDeF takes several stages namely; a selection test and oral interview, formal training and professional mentorship. The written examination and oral interview seek to test and assess the candidate’s long term passion to environmental conservation. Meanwhile the formal training that takes 12 months at the ERuDeF Institute… and payable by the Junior Professionals themselves, seeks to introduce the Junior Professionals to a new range of skills in the field of environmental conservation, non-profit management and fundraising. These are the three essential skills needed to be successful and grow to the top in any non-profit career. The third and last phase of the training, the Mentorship Program that takes place in ERuDeF, seeks to integrate the Junior Professional into the real world of work through his/her full integration into the implementation and management of real world programs in ERuDeF. The mentorship program takes up to 12 months. Holders of Master degrees and with some meaningful professional experience may take up to 12 months.

Partial fellowships of up to 20% the training costs are available to the most dedicated candidates who would have been successful in the selection test and oral interview. All the field costs (100% subsidy) shall be incurred by ERuDeF. The selection and oral interviews shall be conducted on a rolling basis until end of September 2016 in Buea. The positions are none-paid positions. While the training program begins in October 2016 at the ERuDeF Institute, the mentorship program In ERuDeF will start in July 2016. The successful Junior Professionals shall be hired directly to work on ERuDeF programmes after this period of training.

The Chief Executive of ERuDeF is seeking to hire the services of a part-time Civil Engineer to fill the position of the Head of Division for Infrastructural Development at ERuDeF. ERuDeF is in the process of consolidating and expanding its operations in Cameroon. The Infrastructural Development Division will oversee the development of its ambitious infrastructural development programme from conception, through implementation to management.
