The focus is on the montane forests of the Lebialem Highlands and including all areas above 1300m. They key sites include the Mt Bamboutos, Magha Hills, Nyi-tebong/fuagonkem Hills, Lebialem Falls and Nkingkwa Hill. The last subpopulation of green monkeys are located here. The Nyi-tebong/fuagonkem Hills is also home to an isolated subpopulation of Sitatonga sp and wild sheep. The critically endangered bannerman's Turaco, endangered Banded Wattle-eye also live here. 20 of the 28 restricted birds species live here and also including over 90 afro-montane birds species.

The montane forests of Lebialem are also a critical watershed and an important cloud forests in Cameroon, yet they are not protected. In order to provide a long term sustainable development to this area, the Mt Bamboutos, Magha Hills, Nyi-tebong/fuagonkem Hills, Lebialem Falls and Nkingkwa Hill urgently need full protection either as an integral ecological reserve, sanctuary or a community forest.
