During our lifetime, we have seen many water sources destroyed and polluted, and as the human population increases there arises the need to improve on the quality and quantity of water supply. It is for this reason that Trees for the Future, SODEVIN, MINEPDEP

and the traditional rulers of Mile 16 in Buea, Fako Division, Southwest Region, launched tree planting to restore the water catchment in that neighbourhood.

On September 25, 2015, the ERuDeF agro-forestry team facilitated the transplantation of tree seedlings, witnessed by the Chief of Mile 16, the Delegate of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development (MINEPDED), the coordinator of SODEVIN and the Chairman of the Mile 16 water community.

Stakeholders undertook the tree planting project so as to ensure continuous flow and sustainable use of water resources in the community.

The Mile 16 water catchment sustains the local population and neighboring communities especially during the dry seasons.
