IMPACTING LIVES
Indigenous and local communities play a vital role in wildlife conservation and environment protection. Comprising less than 5 percent of the world’s population, indigenous communities protect 80 percent of global biodiversity. In this context, ERuDeF is promoting alternative livelihood opportunities to strengthen the livelihood of forest dwellers and indigenous communities. ERuDeF has been encouraging these communities to adopt agroforestry, agroecology and community forestry programmes in a bid to ensure their holistic development; increasing food and nutritional security, reinforcing income generation opportunities, health and education.
