ERuDeF Females Firm In Environmental Protection

Female staff of ERuDeF, March 8, 2015 reiterated their determination not to relent in their efforts towards environmental conservation in Cameroon announced the creation of the pioneer women environmental movement known as “the Women in Environment of Cameroon.

They re-echoed their courage as they joined their counterparts in Buea to celebrate the 30th edition of the International Women’s Day under the theme “Make It Happen”.

They encouraged effective action and recognition for advancing women to making women become the next generation of environmental leaders in Cameroon and beyond.

Supported by their CEO, Louis Nkembi, and the men of ERuDeF, the women folk reflected on progress made, and called for greater support of the women by ERuDeF hierarchy.

In a briefing session after the march-pass, the CEO announced that ERuDeF will be throwing its weight to support the women in their efforts to organise and launch the pioneer Women in Environment of Cameroon (WEC).

This will be an all-women environmental movement in Cameroon supported by ERuDeF similar to the Green Belt Movement launched in Kenya in the early 1980s by a leading woman environmentalist.

As build-up to the International Women’s Day, the ERuDeF women took on their male colleagues in a friendly football match on March 6 during which the women beat the men by 3 goals to 2.
