3500 Prunus Seedlings Due Planting In Kupe

Over 3500 seeds of Prunus africana are ready for planting in Kupe Muaneguba Division of the Southwest Region of Cameroon. Farmers are expected to plant these seedlings to promote diversification in their farms and improve on their livelihood

Prunus africana were donated to the community by ERuDeF because of the medicinal importance of the tree

ERuDeF Field Technician for Kupe, Mr. Somelong Simon, said 5000 seeds of Prunus africana were nursed but only 3500 have survived.

Farmers on their part are ready to start planting. “I have to start the planting exercise immediately. Prunus africana will not only help us in treating malaria, it will also generate income for our basic needs.” Said Mr Enogene, President of Mbat young farmers,

ERuDeF Agroforestry Technician thanked the farmers for their collaboration and gave some guidelines on how they will carry out the transplanting exercise.
